What Cricket Really Is ( A Small Truth About The Cricket )

It is very common nowadays that the every act or work, where you have little doubt about victory or defeat, is considered as a game.

In the western countries ( those who play cricket ) cricket is taken as a game but in our country it is taken as a mission not a game. You will never see any cricket team practicing or playing cricket in hot sunny summer days of June and July. I think they do not just play, . they have a mission, the mission of taking bath in stinky sweat or may be, of drying it.

One of my friends says "My dear! you don't know. How deep really cricket is? Cricket is not a game, it is a science."

What a co-incidence, those who play play card say proudly about rummy ( rami ) " This is hundred percent pure scientific game."

I think that they are right because there is no other fastest way ever discovered for loosing money. I questioned my friend "what is the benefit of cricket?"

"It make wrist strong!" I was answered

"What is the benefit of strong wrist?" I again questioned.

"Cricket is played well" he answered

I wanted to break his head but I stayed calm. Then I told him "cricket is dangerous game".

"How?" he inquired

"You see batsman, how he gets armored, before he goes to bat? It seems as if he is a warrior not a player" I responded

"This game is like a war. If I am imprisoned and for the punishment they ask me to play a game, the game where no chances of getting injured, I will prefer death to that game. A true man always smiles when he is injured." He tries to knock me down with his philosophy.

"What then?" I asked

"You won't scream, when you are injured next time" He replied

Once I watched a match, very old one, a test match, A slow bowler was bowling. His minor rotation of wrist and little action of fingers, made ball dance on the pitch just as the bowler himself danced a few moments before the delivery.. On every ball spectators stood up and praised the bowler and then sat in each others legs as if they were adopted.

In our country, during a match, the stadiums are almost empty, not because the people hate cricket but because they hate buying tickets. All the trees around the stadium are covered with people, and every tree seems to have been clad in colorful clothes. And when they applaud any player with clappings, they fall from the trees as mangoes fall during storm. They get up, clean their clothes and get ready for the next fall.

This is not about uneducated people, many people believe that the cricket is played by 22 players. I am not aware of the rules and regulations but what I saw with my own eyes I can swear that cricket is played only by one player, the one who bats. Because the remaining 11 players in the ground are meant to serve him and the rest of all his team players pray for him, not for his long innings, but for his being got out so they can have a chance to bat.. And when day passes, all the players go to their homes and put themselves on bed and start imagining that their whole day was spent in an healthy activity.

I never played cricket, it is does not mean that I have no right to write against it, Just like a man, who is never bitten by a dog, doesn't have the right to talk against dog! Does he? Or " Opium is bad " is written by those people who are not addicted. I never saw an opium addict doing bad thing even doing nothing.
